Project Proposal (first draft) 

The Context 

  1. What is the context of this project? (Look at the brief.) 

Our theme for this project is weather and I'm doing the mythology behind the sun goddess Amaterasu.  

 

  1. What creative question are you answering? 

Why do people believe in Amaterasu and the mythology behind her, how does the sun make people feel and how is it portrayed compared to different weathers. 

 

  1. Discuss your specialist pathway and how this influences how you will approach the problem. 

I think that my creative pathway for this project is fine art and fashion design

27th May 
 

  1. What is the profile of the audience who will be viewing the work? 

People who are interested in mythology and traditional Japanese art and clothing and the sun. This work will be displayed for student 16+ and the members of staff and family and friends. 
 

  1. How will the work be displayed and where? 

Work will be displayed at the collage at the exhibition and it will be big and framed.

  1. How will you use primary research to support, inform and develop your ideas? (Be specific – where have you been? What have you researched 

Ive done some painting in particular acrylic and watercolour and colour experimentation, collage and screen printing. 

 

  1. How will you use the work of others to support, inform and develop your ideas? (Be specific – who/what have you researched?) 

I will take other artists work to show how certain weathers are portrayed for example the sun is shown as powerful and happy whereas a storm of other natural disasters are portrayed as evil mean and gloomy etc. Artists ive looked at so far leiko ikemura, fuku akino, rieko morita, tama ko katoaka 

 

  1. State other secondary research methods you will use to add depth to your understanding of theme. 

Look into how people portray Amaterasu and her goddess status and stories about her and where she originates from .I will research into the mythology behind Amaterasu and research into traditional Japanese clothing to make sure I'm not being offensive and get it  

 

 

  1. Describe how you have considered ethics and sustainability in your research and idea generation. 

Drawing kimonos correctly so it's not offensive and appreciative to the culture. Im going to link to global warming as the sun is the main part of it.

  1. What is the purpose/aim of your artwork? 

To make people aware of mythology and the sun goddess and also to bring attention to global warming issues. 

 
 

  1. Describe how you have generated initial ideas. 

Ive done research into the sun, the sun goddess, Amaterasu, mind maps and mood boards  
 

  1. What materials do you intend to use and explore? 

Paint , watercolour, screen printing and pen and pencils. 
 

  1. What techniques and processes will you be using and exploring? 

Start the drawing of Amaterasu with pencil so u have a clear outline and then fill in with watercolour or acrylic deciding on what I'm going to do add details with fine liner and then do some screen printing as overlaying background. 

 

 

Evaluation and Planning – Develop your answers into a well written paragraph 

  1. How will record your reflective practice? 

I will record my reflections mainly in my book but also on my wix Websight 
 

  1. What are you going to do each week? Create a planning document to ensure you achieve your aims. Set weekly targets. 

I am going to update my sketchbook and upload it to my wix and keep notes on my progress, keeping the deadline in mind I am moving quickly to esure I finish on time and with enough time. 

 

 

 

  1. How will you evaluate your work? 

I will compare my final piece to my project proposal to see if I've met all my targets and included everything I intended too, I will look at how I went along with creative resrearch and evaluate the steps that I have done.
